The saltworks in Ston is among the oldest in the Mediterranean and use techniques that date back to the time of the Republic of Dubrovnik. Saltworks originates from the 14th century and was created after the Republic of Dubrovnik bought Ston and surrounded it with a defensive wall. Salt in Ston is collected every summer between July and September by local residents and volunteers from all over the world.
Boris Kragić recorded what salt harvesting looks like on camera.
